The name originally derives from the Greek word “adamas” which roughly translates to mean invincible. As diamonds pretty much are invincible we think the translation of this term fits the gemstone pretty accurately.

In fact diamonds are known for their remarkable strength and are around 58 times harder than other minerals on Earth.
